Organ Donation

Lately I have been given at least 2 opportunities to speak of my transplant experience with a special focus on organ donation and the great need there is for more people to become organ donors. I realize that in the kind providence of God I might not be here today without someone giving to me this special gift. I know that this person who gave of his heart also gave of his kidney the same night I was transplanted. You can probably tell that by the change in profile pictures I am trying to spread the word or bring a fresh awareness to this important issue, of organ donation. I am trying not over bearing on this because I realize that it is a individual decision. I recently asked a dear brother in Christ how organ donation fits in the realm of theology that we believe in and his response that we should all act because as he put it so much has been given to us that we should want to give back to someone in need. He was speaking from a spirit of giving I have also had a gut-wrenching conversation with a parent whose child has been born with congenital birth defect, and this little one needing an organ transplant. They are professing Christians and submitting to the Lord in this matter but also in their conversation were asking prayer that their child would continue to life through a organ donation resulting in a transplant, if that would be in the plan of God. All I would ask is that you consider this important subject and act accordingly as you are lead.

Please consider and watch this…………..

You know, before I met you, whenever I thought about organ donation I thought it would make it more difficult for MY family or inconvenience someone in MY life. Since meeting you it has become so clear to me that this isn’t about ME. It is about someone else. And especially being Christian we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, and I know I would donate my organs to my husband, or my sister or my mom. So being a Christian oughtn’t I also being willing to give my organs to someone I haven’t met– like the Samaritan? Thank you for causing us all to think.
And did you notice how many of those children, even with tubes all over their bodies, had such happy faces? If we as adults could face adversity that way! It reminds me of when Luke would be in a cast and just go about playing like nothing was wrong.
